Chicago – Across the Internet, consumers can choose from an array of online auction sites like eBay and its myriad of competitors. Yet, for many people, the online auction process is time-consuming, complicated and costly. Often, buyers pay more than they originally anticipated, and sometimes they endure the frustration of getting outbid at the last minute by someone who pays $1 more. Veteran entrepreneur Joe Elias had a brainstorm early one morning two years ago about a better way for sellers to offer products and services online, and for buyers to purchase them. The result is 4Sale4Now.com, which is set to launch on November 1.
4Sale4Now is not an auction site. There is no bidding. Instead, each product and service is listed with an initial discounted price, and that price gradually decreases. Sellers have control of the length of the sale, and the price. Buyers are not aware of the quantity of the product for sale, so they can buy it right away at the original discounted price, or take a chance that it will still be in stock during the next scheduled price reduction.
Call it one-stop shopping. There are thousands of new and used products, and there are also items like event tickets, vacations and services. Overall, there are 38 categories of products and 14 categories of services. Everything from clothing, electronics, toys and sporting goods to jewelry, antiques, art and books are available, as are items like airline tickets, event tickets and vacation packages. Consumers can even perform an advanced search for services offered in their local area. Car rentals agencies, landscaping services, fitness centers, restaurants and hair salons are among the types of local businesses that offer their deals.
“We believe this will revolutionize the online marketplace and change how people buy and sell on the Internet,” Elias said. “Because of the sluggish economy, we think this is the ideal time to introduce our site and process. With online auction sites like eBay, the price goes up. With our site, the price goes down. Our concept is all about leaving the site knowing that you found a great deal.” Individuals and retailers can take advantage of selling on 4Sale4Now.com. Retailers can also purchase a license to use 4Sale4Now.com technology on their respective site.
“This is ideal for any online retailer or brick and mortar retailer that has sale items or a clearance section,” Elias said. “We can even license our product to you and you can use our site to list products for sale and show them as discounts drop. Sellers have the ability to drop the price at their own pace over a six to 60-day period.”
There are three types of pricing discounts sellers can offer. They start with the original price and then they can drop that price in two percent increments up to 10 percent off, five percent increments up to 25 percent off and 10 percent increments up to 50 percent off.
Elias - who also has companies in the real estate development, construction and architecture fields - woke up early one morning in 2006 and hatched the idea for 4Sale4Now.com.
“I started outlining the idea and soon had four pages of notes about the concept and how it would work,” said Elias, who still has the original notes. A patent for the site’s technology was granted this year. “The day after Thanksgiving and the day after Christmas are the two busiest shopping days because of the deep discounts. Our site features that year-round.”
Elias is confident that consumers will embrace 4Sale4Now.com and the concept will change the way people buy and sell on the Internet. “Everyone loves a good bargain. What we are introducing is a new experience in buying and selling that is fun, exciting, simple and cost-effective,” Elias said. “When you go into a store, you don’t stand in line with people trying to outbid you. We don’t think you should have that experience online either. It’s the natural way to shop”
