An award-winning writer, editor and publicist with 17 years of professional experience, 40-year-old Jeff Louderback started his career as a reporter and editor at newspapers and magazines before entering the public relations field. He now writes features as a freelancer for regional and national magazines, completes writing and editing projects for companies and implements PR campaigns for clients to secure local, regional and national media exposure for them through press releases, story pitch letters and media relations.
Jeff has extensive experience writing about sports as well. He started his career as a sports writer for a daily newspaper in Ohio, where he covered high school, college and professional sports (including the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals). He has written many freelance sports features for magazines, and served as a contributing editor for OverTime Magazine, a national business and lifestyle magazine for and about professional athletes.
Jeff is also the founder and editor of Sox and Pinstripes (www.soxandpinstripes.com), which is a popular blog and web site about the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and baseball. Though he is a native of southwest Ohio and was raised amid Cincinnati Reds country, Jeff is a lifelong devoted Red Sox fan.
A native of Ohio, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in communication at Wright State University, Jeff served as a sports writer for the Xenia Daily Gazette, a features writer for Amos Suburban Newspapers and an editor for Small Business News before becoming editor and publisher of a regional pet care magazine that he started and built.
His experience also includes a dual role as editor of a commercial real estate publication and assistant editor of a weekly business newspaper in Dayton, Ohio before he joined the Greene County Department of Economic Development as the organization’s first public relations manager.
Before opening his own writing and PR business, Jeff started the public relations division of what is now the nation’s largest restaurant marketing and public relations firm. He was director of media relations – crafting story angles; writing press releases and articles; generating coverage in local, regional and national media outlets; and implementing public relations campaigns – while helping build this firm.
Jeff has generated coverage for his clients in multiple local, regional and national media outlets. Forbes, Fortune Small Business, the New York Times, USA Today, InTouch Weekly, Inc., Entrepreneur, Southern Living, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post and the Miami Herald are just a small sampling of publications where Jeff’s clients have appeared.
As a freelance journalist, Jeff has earned awards for his feature writing. He has written numerous sports features, personality profiles, travel and lifestyle features, business trend features, entrepreneur profiles and health and wellness features. His work appears in regional and national consumer and trade magazines.
